  • Location: Cootes Paradise Elementary School Back Yard
  • Date: Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 10 a.m.
  • Schedule:
    • 10:00 – 10:45 a.m.: Bike & Gear Intake
    • 10:45 a.m.: Early Pick‑Up Opens for Donors
    • 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.: Open to Everyone (One item per child)
    • 1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Remaining items are open for pickup by any family, may be taken back by the original donor, or donated to New Hope Community Bikes to help support more families.
  • Families are encouraged to take part in the Green & Clean Spring Clean‑Up, organized by Cootes Home and School Association (HSA), from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The Community Bike & Active Gear Swap is a free, donation‑first community event created to help children get access to bikes and outdoor gear before the summer. Families are invited to bring gently used items their children have outgrown and share them with others, pick up something that fits their child now, or simply donate to support kids in the community. Eligible items include children’s bikes of all sizes, scooters, skateboards, roller skates or skating shoes, helmets, and similar active gear. Items are shared as‑is; flat tires are okay, but unsafe or heavily damaged items will not be accepted. Participation is open to all families, including those who don’t have items to bring.

  • This is a community, donation‑first bike and active gear swap.
  • Bringing items does not guarantee receiving an item in return.Children may participate even if they do not have items to bring.
  • Priority is given to ensuring every child receives something, with open pickup after 1:30 p.m.
  • Items not selected by 2:00 p.m. may be taken back by the original donor or donated to New Hope Community Bikes.
  • All items are first‑come, first‑served; no holds or reservations.
  • Items are exchanged as‑is; families are responsible for checking fit and safety.
  • Volunteers provide visual checks only and are not responsible for item functionality.
